Scholarships that require an additional application:
- Brittain Scholarship - awarded to residents of Lenawee County, Michigan
- Creative Arts Scholarship - awarded to students indicating English, art, or theatre as a major
- Harold I. Gach Scholarship Endowment - awarded to residents of Wayne, Oakland or Macomb county, Michigan who have been affected by cancer (either the student or a parent)
- Fred Hubacker Family Fund Scholarship - awarded to participants in the FIRST Robotics Program
- MSU Family Fund Scholarship - awarded to children or grandchildren of eligible Michigan State University employees or retirees
- Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship - awarded to students transferring from two-year institutions who are members of Phi Theta Kappa
- George M. and Hilda G. Shrake Endowed Scholarship - awarded to an incoming freshman from Detroit Public Schools who demonstrates financial need and is interested in majoring in a technical field, or has the desire to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in science, computer science, engineering, or a health-related profession
- Steve Smith Pershing High School MSU Scholarship for Academic Achievement - awarded to incoming freshmen from Detroit Pershing High School demonstrating exceptional academics, and not a recipient of an athletic scholarship
- Walter and Shirley Sperber Scholarship - awarded to students who have faced adversity through the loss of one or both parents
- Trustee Scholarship - awarded to students transferring from two-or-four year institutions in Michigan
