As an admitted international student, there are steps you need to complete to prepare for your enrollment at Michigan State University.
Requirements for All New International Undergraduate Students
- Establish your MSU NetID and MSU e-mail account. Go!
- Submit your non-refundable Advanced Enrollment Deposit (AED) within four weeks of receiving your admitted student packet. Freshmen starting fall semester must submit the AED no later than the May 1 deadline or their offer of admission may be canceled. After submitting your AED online, you will be able to submit a residence hall application and view arrival and orientation information. Go!
- Complete the online Math Placement Exam. Go!
- If appropriate, complete the online Foreign Language Placement Exam. Go!
- Review the immunization requirements for international students and submit the required Immunization Self-Report form. Failure to complete this form may affect your ability to attend MSU. Go!
- If you are under 18, your parents need to complete the Consent Form for Treatment of Students Under Age 18. Go!
Requirements for New International Undergraduate Students With Specific Situations
- If you plan to major in music, schedule an audition and complete the separate application for the School of Music. Go!
- If you have college/university courses in progress, send the College-Level Course Work in Progress form in your admitted student booklet to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. Advanced Placement scores should be sent to MSU directly from the College Board.
- If you are a student with a disability, review the Important Action Required for Students with Disabilities section of your admitted student booklet and submit the Self-Identification for Students with Disabilities registration form to the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities. Go!
Obtaining your I-20 or DS-2019
MSU will promptly issue an I-20 or DS-2019 to an admitted international student after they have completed the following steps:
- Provide MSU with the Statement of Financial Proof and supporting bank statement
- Submit your non-refundable $250 Advanced Enrollment Deposit using the process outlined above
