Specific Criteria Scholarships

The following scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who meet the criteria specified by the award. Satisfying the criteria does not guarantee that a student will receive a scholarship since the amount of funding may limit the number of awards that can be offered. Consideration for these awards is automatic. In some instances, an additional application is required. Check the searchable scholarship database for additional major-specific scholarships awarded directly by colleges and departments.

Bainbridge-Cobb Scholarship
Awarded to a student based on financial need, with special consideration given to descendents of the donors.
Edward J. Barant Scholarship
Awarded to two students graduating from Michigan high schools with fewer than 500 students in the graduating class.
William Carr MSU Black Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to a student based on academic achievement and financial need.
Charles F. Crumpton Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a limited number of students majoring in management in the Eli Broad College of Business and/or two- or four-year veterinary technology programs in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Creative Arts Scholarship
Awarded to a limited number of students indicating English, art, or theatre as a major. Creative Arts Scholarship application
Daimler Chrysler Corporation/Michigan State University Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to a student based on financial need who demonstrates leadership in the face of adversity and indicates an interest in engineering, business, management, information technology, or manufacturing.
Ford Motor Company/Michigan State University Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to a limited number of students based on financial need and academic achievement.
Harold I. Gach Scholarship Endowment
Awarded to two residents of Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb county, Michigan, who has been affected by cancer (either student or parent). Harold I. Gach Scholarship application
Robert L. and Lettie C. Green Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a limited number of students based on financial need and academic achievement.
James B. Hamilton Scholarship
Awarded to two participants in the Mowbray Scholars competition displaying academic achievement.
Jay Samuel Hartt Scholarships
Awarded to five students indicating interest in the arts or humanities.
Honors College Alumni Association Scholarship
Awarded to a limited number of students invited to be members of the Honors College.
Fred Hubacker Family Fund Scholarship

Violet L. Wilton Herbert Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student displaying academic achievement.
Earvin Magic Johnson Scholarship Endowed by the Los Angeles Lakers
Awarded to a limited number of students based on academic achievement, financial need, and demonstrated leadership in extra-curricular activities and community involvement.
Harold N. and Agape C. Kallis Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to two students based on financial need and academic achievement.
Arthur C. and Lois D. Kittleson Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student indicating a premedical or education major.
McCristal Spirit of Michigan State Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student based on academic achievement, financial need, community service and activities with career interests in business and communications.
Michigan Capitol Girl Scout Council's Kathy Lindahl McCheer Off Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student/member of the Michigan Capital Area Girl Scout Council who demonstrates commitment to the organization’s ideals and goals.
Miller-Wilson Michigan State University Black Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to a student based on academic achievement and financial need.

Awarded to a limited number of students based on financial need with previous military service or the descendent of a military veteran.

Awarded to a student based on academic achievement and financial need.

Awarded to a student based on financial need.

Awarded to three members or children of members of UFCW Local 951.
