Interested in a media studies major? 

The media and information degree is designed to allow students the flexibility to acquire cutting-edge knowledge and skills in media information technology and emerging technology. Course work and experience provides students seeking a media studies major with the opportunity to specialize in radio and television, new media, game design, film production, graphics and animation, media management, and information policy. 

In addition, specialty labs enable students to acquire and apply knowledge; debate policy and regulation; collaborate, innovate and design technologies; and research the effects of communication technologies. 

Graduates are prepared to: 

  • design high-impact media products 
  • apply state-of-the-art tools, practices and techniques 
  • use current and emerging media to fuel innovation 
  • address pressing social issues and themes 
  • interpret, critique and understand the history, sociocultural patterns and ethical implications of media technologies
