This is an exclusive event that is invitation only for students attending one of the participating high schools.

College Decision Day is an opportunity for high school seniors to pre-apply to multiple Michigan colleges and receive decisions on the day of the event. In the morning, the students will come to drop off materials to complete their applications of admission to the colleges of their choice. In the afternoon, students return to receive their decisions. All of the Michigan Public Universities will be participating in this event along with a few private universities from Michigan.

  • Students are encouraged to apply to no more than five schools, for this event.
  • Every student planning to participate in the event must RSVP.
  • Once you have RSVP'd for the event you will receive a special bar-code, in an email, that you need to bring with you to be used at registration.

A list of the participating universities can be found at this website below along with specific instructions on what each university requires to complete their application for this event.

TIME ACTIVITY
8:30 am - 10:00 am Drop-off application materials (transcripts, test scores, etc.) to universities
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm Pick-up application decisions from universities

DEADLINES

  • RSVP Deadline is October 26, 2017 at noon.
  • Online Application Deadline is October 20, 2017 at midnight.
  • Paper applications can be submitted the day of the event.

HOW TO APPLY
Each institution has different application requirements. Carefully review the requirements for each of the participating institutions before starting an application or attending College Decision Day. Please bring enough, official or unofficial copies of your transcripts and test scores. There is no "copying" service available the day of the event.

If you plan to apply to a university that is accepting paper applications please print them off and complete them in advance of coming to College Decision Day. If you do not have access to the paper application prior to the event please contact the desired university Office of Admission; at least 1 week before October 28, 2017.

*If you have already started or submitted an application to any of these institutions, please contact that institution and let them know you are planning to attend College Decision Day.

APPLICATION FEE WAIVER
Application fee waivers, for eligible students, are being accepted by all institutions. Each university has listed their policy for application fee waivers in the instructions.

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Official & Unofficial Transcripts
  • Official transcripts must be in a sealed envelope. The transcript must contain the school seal and the closed envelope must bear the signature of an official of your high school. If the envelope is open, when you present it to the university, it is no longer official.
  • Unofficial transcripts are the same as "student issued". These transcripts are not required to be in a sealed envelope. Some of the participating universities are accepting unofficial transcripts. Please see the section entitled "Application Instructions" for detailed information.
Official & Unofficial Test Scores
  • Official test scores (ACT or SAT) must be included on your official transcript. They are only considered official if the transcript is an official copy. Test scores sent directly from the testing agency are also considered official
  • Unofficial test scores (ACT or SAT) are considered to be copies of your personal score report, including those printed from the website of the testing agency or those scores included on an unofficial transcript.
Essays, personal statements & recommendations
  • Please refer to the Application Instructions section to see which universities require essays, personal statements and/or recommendations. Each of these three things are different and should not be used as a substitute for the other.

Application procedures for Decision Day:

  • Complete the online application at the CMU website, by Friday October 27, select the first option for the main campus. PRINT the PDF copy of your submitted application and bring it with YOU to the event.
  • Send or bring a copy of your official high school transcript.
  • Secure a copy of your ACT or SAT scores (these may be included on your transcripts).
  • Fee Waiver Policy: Select the "pay later" option and submit your application. All application fees will be waived on the day of the event.

  • Completing the application for admission online is preferred, but paper apps will be accepted the day of the event.
  • Provide an official copy of your high school transcript for review and a school report of your ACT or SAT scores
  • Fee Waiver Policy: This online application does not require a fee waiver code. There will be no fee requirements for students applying at Decision Day.
