Meeting these deadlines ensures that MSU reviews your application on time, keeps you eligible for the greatest number of transfer scholarships and, if you are admitted, gives you enough time to complete the steps to secure your place in the entering transfer class.

MSU must receive your complete application by 11:59 p.m. ET on the application deadline date.

MSU uses rolling admissions, meaning we will continue to accept transfer applications as long as space is available, up until the application deadline. The application may close prior to the deadline if the number of applications exceeds the anticipated number of spaces available for that semester, so it is recommended to apply as soon as you are able.
MSU must receive your college-level transcripts and all other required materials by 11:59 p.m. ET on this deadline.
College-level transcripts
Ask each college or institution you have attended to send your official transcript directly to MSU. This includes transcripts from dual enrollment and early/middle college programs. Visit the transfer application checklist for instructions on having your transcripts sent to MSU.

Admission decisions for undergraduate transfer applicants are typically made eight to 12 weeks after the application, transcripts and all required materials are received.
An initial admission decision may be a "withhold" decision. In this case the Office of Admissions will ask you to provide additional information. Please submit all requested information as soon as possible. Any delay in receiving this information may affect the timing of your admission decision.
Some transfer scholarships require an updated official transcript before they can be awarded. This deadline is separate from the earlier transcript and materials deadline:
By this deadline, submit your most recent official transcripts, including final grades for any courses that were still in progress when you applied. Even if you already submitted your transcripts for the transcript and materials deadline, you must submit an updated transcript by this deadline to remain eligible for these scholarships.
After you’re admitted, review the instructions for sending your final, official transcripts to MSU.
We strongly recommend that you accept your offer of admission and pay your acceptance fee within four weeks of your admission and no later than the acceptance fee deadline listed in the application and decision timeline for the semester to which you applied.
Acceptance fee payments made more than four weeks after admission may still be accepted through the acceptance fee deadline if space remains available.
If you receive an offer of admission after the acceptance fee deadline, submit your acceptance fee within two weeks. Failure to meet this deadline may result in the cancellation of your admission.
Paying your acceptance fee reserves your place in the incoming class and automatically registers you for the required New Student Orientation (NSO). If you have any questions about NSO, please contact orientation staff at +1 517-355-8490 or nso@msu.edu.
Note: The transfer student acceptance fee is nonrefundable.
