Preoptometry

A busy classroom full of preoptometry majors wearing white lab coats, looking into microscopes and working on assignments.

MSU does not offer preoptometry as a major or minor, but rather as a preprofessional path that students can select if they plan to pursue graduate-level health professions. These include careers in optometry, ophthalmology and related health fields.

Optometry schools do not look at undergraduate majors when determining admissibility, so you should ultimately choose a major that you will enjoy and excel in. Preprofessional advisers at MSU work closely with students to make sure they are completing the prerequisite courses necessary to succeed in their chosen health profession.
