Next steps for admitted international students

Congratulations! You applied. You were accepted. Now it’s time to confirm your place.

Please thoroughly review all of the steps listed below and complete them as soon as possible. After being admitted, these steps can also be viewed in your account.

You’re just steps away from being an official Spartan! Here’s your checklist.

1. Reserve your place

All admitted international students who plan to attend Michigan State University fall semester should reserve their place in the incoming class as soon as they have decided to enroll at MSU, but no later than May 1. International students planning to enroll for either the spring or summer semester should reserve their place within four weeks from the date of their admission. Complete the steps below to reserve your place at MSU.

2. Prepare to enroll

After you have reserved your place, you must prepare for enrollment by completing the items below that pertain to your specific admission situation.

Some of the items — such as completing placement exams and submitting immunization forms — are required and need to be completed prior to orientation. Other items — such as registering with disability services at MSU — are optional or only for specific situations. To prepare for enrollment at MSU, thoroughly review the information at each of the links below.

3. Attend orientation

All admitted international students must attend a New Student Orientation (NSO) program, unless you meet specific exemption criteria.
