The MSU campus is a 15-minute drive from Capital Regional International Airport and a 75-minute drive from Detroit Metro Airport. The Michigan Flyer Airport Shuttle offers bus transportation to East Lansing from Detroit and takes about two hours.

While MSU's campus is large, students have many options to easily get from place to place. Campus is extremely bicycle-friendly and campus buses are free to students. Many students also get around in cars or mopeds.
Safety is a top priority at Michigan State University for everyone in the campus community. MSU has more than 80 sworn police officers certified by the State of Michigan on campus. More campus safety and security services include late-night transport, access to being escorted, 24-hour emergency telephones, lighted pathways/sidewalks and controlled residence hall access.

MSU promotes a tobacco-free campus and provides free menstrual products in restrooms across campus. Students can also buy health insurance, which is required for international students.

Apply by November 1 for maximum scholarship consideration and to receive a decision by January 15.
Regular admission - April 1 (priority: February 1)
Apply by the February 1 priority deadline to guarantee an initial admission decision by March 31. All applications received between February 1 and April 1 will be considered on a rolling basis.
